Lee
was born on April 30, 1987, two months premature at Westchester Medical
Center weighing in at 4LBS and 6OZ.
His Mother arrived at Westchester Medical Center by ambulance from
Catskill Regional Medical Center at approximately midnight, as a high risk
pregnancy. Lee was born at 3:47AM.
Within that time frame, the umbilical cord became wrapped around his
neck which cut off his oxygen supply thus causing his disability of Cerebral
Palsy.
Lee resides in
Sullivan County, New York where he works full-time as an
Emergency Communications Specialist at
The Center for
Discovery. Lee is
an active volunteer and has held many different leadership positions with
the
American Red Cross Metro New York North Chapter since
September 2001. Further, he’s a
New York State Certified First Responder and an active member of
Jeffersonville Volunteer First Aid Corps.
Lee is certified by the
National Association of Safety
Professionals as a Specialist in Emergency Management (SEM)
and is also a Heartsaver® Instructor for the
American Heart Association.
In Lee's spare time, he enjoys photography,
computer graphic and website design,
spending time with friends and family and providing disability education and
awareness to the general public.
In a recent interview, Lee said, "Everyone
has something . . . some people wear contacts or glasses, other people have
things that we can't see from the outside. It's my goal as someone who
lives with a disability everyday to provide as much awareness and education
as possible to those who don't understand what it's like to walk a day in my
shoes."
